Conference Bus after QM09

In order to facilitate the participation of NPL09 by Quark Matter 2009 attendees, we plan to offer a free charter-bus leaving Knoxville, TN, early afternoon on April 4th after the conclusion of QM09. The bus will make an overnight stop in Asheville, NC, and a tour of the well-known Biltmore Estate is planned for the morning April 5th. The bus is scheduled to arrive in Durham, NC, on the evening of April 5th and will drop off the participants at the NPL09 workshop hotel.

Acommodation in Asheville:

While the bus from Knoxville to Durham will be provided free of charge, travelers will need to pay for their accomodation in Asheville as well as for the admission to Biltmore Estate. We have reserved a block of rooms at a rate of US$ 99 (plus tax) at:

Renaissance Hotel, Asheville (click on the link for reservations, use group code "dudduda")
Phone: +1-828-252-8211
FAX: +1-828-236-9616

in case you encounter any problems with the reservation, please contact Suzanne Escovitz at +1-828-252-8211 or her staff assistant Sharon Loftin at +1-828-210-3006.

If you wish to share a room with another NPL participant, this is possible, but you will need to arrange for your room mate yourself. The hotel will be able to split the bill for the room if you indicate so upon check-in.

Admission to Biltmore Estate is US$ 46 per person (this includes a selfguided audio tour to Biltmore House). Please note that due to logistical constraints and the benefits of the reduced group rates, all participants will need to stay at the Renaissance hotel. If you therefore plan on taking the bus, you will have to make reservations at the Renaissance hotel. Note that the entire package (hotel in Asheville plus tour of Biltmore) is far cheaper than arranging your own tavel to Durham and we encourage you to take advantage of it.

Other Travel-Options from Knoxville to Durham

If you wish to make your own travel arrangements from Knoxville, TN, to Durham, NC, please be advised that one-way airfares between TYS and RDU are in excess of US$ 200 and a one night additional stay at the NPL09 workshop hotel will be about US$ 110.
